Mike Landry Design

ike Landry was born March 14, 1951 in Erath, Louisiana of French heritage. At an early age he was drawing boats and houses and exhibiting some natural talent in art.

In grade school and high school he received drafting classes in the industrial arts curriculum. Mike won a university scholarship by entering a set of house plans drawn on his mothers snack bar with a big pen. His competitive nature has earned him many awards for his designs on the local, state, and national levels. After finishing a drafting technology program of Northwestern State University and he moved and settled in Lafayette, Louisiana. Before starting his own design firm in 1976 Mike was employed in the building component industry for three years and employed by a residential designer for two years.

In 1982 he became a charter member of the Louisiana society of the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD). In 1983 he passed the examination to become a certified professional building designer (CPBD) and has served on these organizations board of directors all these years as well as the Acadian Home Builder Association and the Lafayette Metro Code Variance Board. Mike has devoted his design practice mainly to high end custom residential with some commercial projects mingled in. Self taught with an eye for balance and proportion has earned Mike much respect in the building design community. He continues to educate himself with the latest building materials, and technologies as well as attending seminars and classes by the New York School of Classical Architecture.
